Known affectionately by locals as the Happy Valley, Bollington is a small town in a charming rural standing situated on the River Dean and the Macclesfield Canal. Steeped in local history Bollington is the product of the merging of 3 small villages over many decades and is hence a town of significant history and culture exhibiting a mix of architectural styles dating back to the 19th Century. Primarily a mill town, several of which have been redeveloped for housing, there are still three which provide employment areas and one is home to the local radio station ‘Canalside Radio FM’.

The local shops are able to cater for most everyday requirements and still include traditional Butchers ‘J J J Heathcotes’ and other trades which retain the village atmosphere and the local cricket club and park are central features along side the aqueduct which dissects the village.

The towns crowning feature and most famous Landmark is White Nancy, an iconic folly that overlooks the town built to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo at the summit of Kerridge Hill.
