Combs is a beautiful and secluded hamlet nestled in a valley framed by the local reservoir and cliffs of Ladder Hill and Combs Edge. Located just off the Chapel-en-le-Frith to Whaley Bridge road the village has become popular with people looking for a quiet place to live that offers a close knit community with the option to commute easily to Manchester and surrounding areas.
The village centres around the Beehive Inn which is the mixing pot of the local community. From here, cottages and farms fan out along wandering country lanes into the local countryside. Up to the north of the village lies Combs reservoir, which supports a local sailing club and is popular with fishing enthusiasts and walkers. To the east the village is Castle Naze, the former site of an Iron age fortress with ruins that still exist today. More recently the Gritstone Crag here has become popular with rock climbers and the area offers dramatic walking routes with splendid views across Chapel-en-le-Frith and the surrounding area.
There are no local schools in Combs. The nearest are in neighbouring Chapel-en-le-Frith which is 2miles away.
